Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. Their mission: Turn 200 black investors into 400 black investors by 2024. “We think of ourselves as an organization formed by black VCs for blacks VCs to increase the representation of black investors,” Sykes told TechCrunch. “You can look around and say well ‘I know five black VCs,’ but you can also say this firm does not have a single black VC, they may not even have a single underrepresented minority … We want to make firms reckon with the fact that there is a racial diversity problem; there is a lack of black VCs and every firm should really care about it.” BLCK VC has been at work since the beginning of 2018, building and expanding a network of black investors in the San Francisco area, Los Angeles and New York. Jidenna Theodora Mobisson popularly known as (Jidenna) is an American Hip hop and R&B singer and songwriter born on 4th May 1985 at Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, America to Tama Mobisson a white accountant and Oliver Mobisson a Nigeria Igbo academic. He grew up partially in Nigeria with his father who is a professor of computer science at Enugu State University. They relocated back to the State when he was Six years old due to kidnap attempt.in 1995, the family moved to Norwood and Milton, both in  Massachusetts, his father suffered stroke in 2000 which lead to his retirement as lecturer, in 2010 his father died from massive Heart attack.

Jidenna became a co-founder of the rap group called Black spadez in high school and started producing, writing and arranging. He released his first studio album with Black Spadez as their final project at Milton Academy.  Jidenna was accepted to Harvard University and Stanford University and choose to attend Stanford University where he studied sound engineering but later switched his major to “ritualistic arts”. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts in 2008, afterwards he pushed his musical career while working full time as a teacher.
