BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk popularly known as (Iyanya) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and performer born on 13th October 1986 on palm street calabar, Cross River State. His father was a forester and his mother a school headmistress; both parent died in 2008, Iyanya elder brother also died at the same period of his parent death. Iyanya started singing at the age of 5 in his church choir were his grandfather was also a clergyman, he was also the choir master for the children church choir. He attended his elementary and secondary education in calabar and then went ahead to earn for himself a bachelor Degree in Business Management at the University of calabar.
After graduating from the University of Calabar, he started working as a singing in a local bar he managed where he sang Karaoke. Iyanya said his key musical influence was from American RnB artist R.Kelly and British singer Craig David. He started as a rapper with the stage name “Lofty”, Iyanya was motivated to pursue musical career after watching the celebrity lifestyle of 2face Idibia and Olu Maintain. Iyanya came to fame in 2008, after partaken in the first season of Project Fame West Africa which he was convinced to join by Kcee from KcPresh. He emerged the winner of the competition.
After winning the project fame Iyanya began recording his first studio album “My Story” with track “Love Truly” and “No Time”. The album was a commercial failure due to problem with distribution and promotion. Iyanya became popularly known after releasing hit single “Kukere” which was produced by DTune, he gained global awareness particularly in Nigeria, Ghana and the United Kingdom.

On October 16th 2013 Iyanya became the ambassador for Solo phones Nigeria, A phone company at computer village ikeja, the deal was reportedly worth $220,000(35 million naira) in addition he got a 2014 Toyota Prado from the deal.
