Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. The University of Jos started as a Campus of the University of Ibadan in November, 1971, with the appointment of Professor E. A. Ayandele as its first Acting Principlal. Its first home was the present Township campus of the University which is located along Murtala Mohammed way, Jos. Its first students admitted in January, 1972 were pre-degree students. Degree courses in Arts were introduced in October 1973 and in Science and Education the following year. The same year, the Bauchi Road Campus which then accommodated only the Faculties of Natural, environmental, Medical Sciences and Education was acquired.

In October 1975, the then Military Government announced the establishment of seven new Universities and University Colleges including the University of Jos. Professor Gilbert Onuaguluchi was appointed its first Vice- Chancellor and he was in office from October 1975 - 1978.

Admission Requirements


UTME



  • Credit Passes in Five(5) ‘O’level WASCE, NECO, GCE subjects and its equivalent as approved by the University including English Language, Mathematics, and other three relevant Subject. In addition, Candidates must have UTME JAMB Scores high enough for the cut-off point set for the year in which the applications are being considered.


Direct Entry



  • Passes at the Advanced Level in GCE, IJMB or an approved equivalent examination in two or three English and Mathematics. In addition, Candidates must also meet the 5 Credit Passes in WASCE/NECO/GCE requirements as in UTME.

  • Holders of the following qualifications from institutions recognized by the University of Jos may also be considered for admission into 200 Level: National Diploma (ND) and other relevant qualifications may also be considered with at least an upper credit. Candidates must also meet the ‘O’level requirements for UTME.
