81% of VC firms don’t have a single black investor — BLCK VC plans on changing that

Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr popularly known as (Shatta Wale) is a Ghanaian -born producer and reggae-dancehall musician and multi Award winning artiste, born on 17th October 1984 in Accra, Ghana, to Charles Mensah Snr. and Elsie Evelyn Avemegah, Charles attended Aguafo Secondary School. After his graduation he changed his name to “Bandana” and released the track “Moko Ho” the Hit which featured one of the most outsourcing Ghanaian Rapper Tinny gained a massive airplay in 2004. Charles releases his first studio album titled “Bandana from Ghana” before his disappearance in the music scene for a while. Charles came back stronger with new name Shatta Wale, and released his hit song “Dancehall King” in 2013.

The song earned him artiste of the year at the 2014 Ghana Music Award, and was widely accepted. In a Quest to improve more on his music career he traveled to Jamaica to learn dancehall. The CEO of the Shatta Movement (SM4LYF) rose to Fame at the 2013 VGMAs, after the song he composed Titled Me No Need Award against the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards because he alleged the organisers robbed him off the Dancehall Artiste of the Year to female Dancehall Artiste Kaakei
