81% of VC firms don’t have a single black investor — BLCK VC plans on changing that

Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. ZAINAB BALOGUN BIOGRAPHY

Nigerian actress, television presenter, and model Zainab Balogun was born on the 10th of October 1989, the British Nigerian was born in the United Kingdom but currently resides in Lagos State Nigeria. While growing up, she was raised in a large family in the Clapham region of South West London. Her parents originally hail from Abeokuta in Ogun State.

She had her secondary education at Sacred Heart RC secondary school where she took an interest in art by participating in school plays and talent shows. She attended Christ the King Sixth Form College before moving on to the University of Kent in Medway where she obtained a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB).

As a teenager at the age of 16, Zainab was already working as a model after she was scouted by Premier Model Management. On completion of her Law degree, she began to appear in TV programs such as BBC One’s “Material Girl”, “Cocktail” which was a Bollywood movie in 2012 and Ashley Waters The “Charlatans”. Before long she secured a role in Christopher Nolan’s movie The Dark Knight Rises in 2011 which she described as an “unforgettable experience”

On returning to Nigeria in 2014, she became a presenter for EbonyLife TV where she produced and hosted her own shows such as “EL Now”, which is a daily entertainment show where she shares current news on music, fashion and arts. In 2015 she featured in the movie “Before 30” and “A Soldier's Story”. She featured in the “Wedding Party” and “Ojukokoro” in 2016. In 2017, she made a comeback in “The Wedding Party 2” and also featured in “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel”.

Zainab Balogun has become a force to reckon with both locally and internationally having featured in foreign campaigns in New York and also walking on the runway as a model in the New York Fashion Week. She has also been featured on the cover of magazines such as True Love, Spell, Pride, and Black Hair and Beauty and so many others.

In 2014, she won the TV presenter of the Year at the Sisterhood Awards. In the same year, she went on to win the On-Air Personality of the Year at the All Youth Tush Awards, the Sexiest On-Air Personality at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards. She was also nominated for TV presenter of the year at the 2014 Exquisite Lady of the Year Award (ELOY).
