81% of VC firms don’t have a single black investor — BLCK VC plans on changing that

Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. Their mission: Turn 200 black investors into 400 black investors by 2024. “We think of ourselves as an organization formed by black VCs for blacks VCs to increase the representation of black investors,” Sykes told TechCrunch. “You can look around and say well ‘I know five black VCs,’ but you can also say this firm does not have a single black VC, they may not even have a single underrepresented minority … We want to make firms reckon with the fact that there is a racial diversity problem; there is a lack of black VCs and every firm should really care about it.” BLCK VC has been at work since the beginning of 2018, building and expanding a network of black investors in the San Francisco area, Los Angeles and New York. Bolanle Ninalowo Biography


 Bolanle Ninalowo Aka Nino is a Nigerian actor who was born on the 7th  day of May. He is the second child of eight children and a native of Ikorodu Lagos state Nigeria. He grew up in Lagos before traveling to Chicago in the US at the age of 15 where he spent another 15 years studying and graduating from Devry University with a BSc in Accounting. He also furthered his education and got a Masters in Marketing from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago.

After he finished with his studies Bolanle worked as a banker, and also as an accountant in a company called General Growth Properties in Chicago. He later left Chicago in 2010 and relocated back to Nigeria, where he decided to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an Actor. Things didn’t work out so well for him at first because he had no idea of how to kick-start his career, so he took a shot at becoming a producer. He produced a movie titled “REBIRTH” but because of lack of experience and support, things didn’t come out as expected. He later decided to give up production and formed a music label called “DEISEL MUSIC” he signed a couple of artist to his label but within a space of three years lost all the savings he had.

In 2014 Bolanle decided to take a further step and conquer his fears of becoming an Actor, when he decided to call his cousin Rukky Sanda who is a top-class Actress and Producer for help. She gave him his first role and from then onwards Bolanle was recognized as an actor in Nigeria’s Movie Industry. He has since then been involved in a lot of movies such as “HUSBAND OF LAGOS”, “BABY SHOWER”, “THE GUARDIAN”, and “WALKING AWAY”, and a list of others.

In 2017 Bolanle featured in a blockbuster movie titled “PICTURE PERFECT” in the movie he acted as JOBE and was given the lead role. The movie was directed by Tope Alake and produced by Biodun Stephen. So far the movie has been his most challenging because he played a role that was totally different from the person he is, he was encouraged to do the movie by the producer Biodun Stephen who saw it as a platform for him to show his versatility and ability to cope with different situations. The success of the movie gave Bolanle a massive fan base and helped him with the recognition he deserves.

Bolanle has worked with a lot of top Nigerian actors such as Francis Duru, Iyabo Ojo, Halima Abubakar, Uche ogbodo, Alex Ekubo, Chinenye Uyanna and Mary Remmy  Njoku. His mentor in the industry is Richard Mofe Damijo who he has watched and learned from in the course of his career. His accolade includes The Revelation of the Year at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2010.

Apart from acting, he also runs a car dealership company which his father left for him and his siblings, and he is currently married and blessed with two children.
