81% of VC firms don’t have a single black investor — BLCK VC plans on changing that

Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. Their mission: Turn 200 black investors into 400 black investors by 2024. “We think of ourselves as an organization formed by black VCs for blacks VCs to increase the representation of black investors,” Sykes told TechCrunch. “You can look around and say well ‘I know five black VCs,’ but you can also say this firm does not have a single black VC, they may not even have a single underrepresented minority … We want to make firms reckon with the fact that there is a racial diversity problem; there is a lack of black VCs and every firm should really care about it.” BLCK VC has been at work since the beginning of 2018, building and expanding a network of black investors in the San Francisco area, Los Angeles and New York. Ceeza Milli whose real names are Ifeanyi Charles Bosah was born on the 21st day of October 1991. He is a producer and an afro beats artist who hails from Anambra state but is currently based in Lagos state, west of Nigeria. He is signed to k20 entertainment but has recently been linked with wizkid’s “starboy” label.

Just like most musicians, Ceeza Milli started making music at a very young age.  He sang in his church choir, and also sang in his school with his friends for fun. He also enhanced his production skills with the little instruments he could get his hands on at that time and became a professional music producer at the age of 17. Ceeza strongest motivation is his mother who single-handedly raised him to become the man he is today, she never doubted his abilities for once, but rather gave him both financial and motivational encouragement needed to become a superstar that he is today. He also derives his musical inspiration from the legendary king of highlife and afro beats the late  Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and also the late Michael Jackson and 2pac Shakur just to name a few.

Ceeza studied in a Ghanaian university where he got his degree, and during his period of study in the university, he recorded a lot of songs with a lot of underground artists. He also recorded a lot of mixtapes under his initial stage name Efine. He later released his first ever original single called” STAMINA” which he featured the internationally recognized Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and the song turned out to be a huge hit in Ghana.

After developing his sound and mastering his production skills he moved back to Lagos state Nigeria where he came out with his new brand name called “Ceeza Milli”. With the experience, he gathered he was able to maneuver his way into the Nigeria music industry, without facing any real hurdle. He was instantly enabled to create a sound that was unique with a fusion of both Rnb and High-life mixed together. He is known for creating a different kind of melodies and also a great hook on a song. As at 2015 he was featured on the song ‘BANGING” by Chopstix alongside Reminisce and CDQ, the song was a hit song and this paved way for him to get other appearances, he also featured on “SAI BABA” a song still by Chopstix alongside Dremo, Ichaba Tuburna and Dnyra having worked with these kinds of top acts he was enabled to affiliate himself with a lot of top rated music stars like Ice-prince, Masterkraft, Reekado banks, and Ycee.

As at 2016, Ceeza was able to secure two major collaborations with top rated producer Legendary Beatz. The collaboration introduced him to the international afro beats scene in the U.K and this made his fan base increase during the course of time. His current work is with one of the biggest acts in Africa, if not the biggest, Wizkid. The song is titled “Socco” and it features all Wizkid’s current signees and himself. The song is currently one of the most played songs in Africa right now.

In a short period of time, Ceeza Milli has been able to amass a lot for himself. His current net worth is estimated at #50 million.
