81% of VC firms don’t have a single black investor — BLCK VC plans on changing that

Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. Their mission: Turn 200 black investors into 400 black investors by 2024. “We think of ourselves as an organization formed by black VCs for blacks VCs to increase the representation of black investors,” Sykes told TechCrunch. “You can look around and say well ‘I know five black VCs,’ but you can also say this firm does not have a single black VC, they may not even have a single underrepresented minority … We want to make firms reckon with the fact that there is a racial diversity problem; there is a lack of black VCs and every firm should really care about it.” BLCK VC has been at work since the beginning of 2018, building and expanding a network of black investors in the San Francisco area, Los Angeles and New York. American University of Nigeria (AUN) is a private university in northeastern Nigeria that offers American style higher education programs at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels. Founded in 2004.it is the only American style university in Sub-Saharan Africa. AUN is accredited by the Nigerian National Universities Commissions.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements


 

  • Students must possess a minimum Jamb score of 180 or JAMB's yearly official cut off scoreto be considered for admission at AUN.

  • Also required for admissions consideration are five (5) credits, including English Language and Mathematics, on no more than two SSCE sittings, or an equivalent from a country that requires other types of exit exams or standardized tests. Exceptions, if any, are made on a case-by-case basis.

  • Candidates seeking admission into the Bachelor of Laws (LLB Honors) program must in addition possess a credit in Literature-in-English.



  • Having the above scores and grades does not guarantee admission into the University. The above mentioned requirements only qualifies you for admission consideration and not necessarily acceptance. Students' applications are carefully scrutinized, and those accepted are the ones with the highest scores and qualifications in the applicant pool.
