Venture capital has a diversity problem . BLCK VC , a new organization founded by Storm Ventures associate Frederik Groce and NEA associate Sydney Sykes to connect, engage and advance black venture capitalists, is ready for a new era in the industry. David Adedeji Adeleke with stage name Davido is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer, who was born on the 21st November 1992 in Atlanta Georgia USA. He is the co-owner of HKN records alongside his elder brother Adewale Adeleke. And the founder of DMW records, a label which is home to a couple of outstanding acts like Mayourkun, Dremo, Ichaba, Peruzzi, Yonda, FreshVDM, and Idowest. He did his primary and secondary school at British International School in Lagos and then traveled to the US to study Business Administration at Oakwood University.

Davido’s interest in music started growing while he was studying at the University, he decided to purchase musical instruments for himself and started singing at his spare time, he also learned how to produce for himself and was already a professional music producer at a young age. He finally dropped out of school when he discovered that his main interest was in music, and as at 2011, he relocated back to Nigeria to give it a shot.

Davido’s first ever single was dropped that same year when he featured the A-list rapper Naeto C, and the single was titled “BACK WHEN”, he quickly followed up with the video, and it turned out to be a big hit. At the beginning of the following year, Davido came out with a Monster hit track titled “DAMI DURO” the song received massive airplay and it turned out to be Street Anthem at that time. He later released his first studio Album titled “OMO BABA OLOWO” which included massive songs like “ALL OF YOU”, “EKURO”, “GBON GBON”, and “OVERSEAS” featuring Sina Rambo.

On the 6th of April 2012 it was reported that Davido had signed a #30 million endorsement deal with MTN, a deal which made him the face of MTN Pulse, a marketing campaign for all Nigerian youths. in 2013 Davido came out with another massive song titled “SKELEWU” the song was so massive that he ended up making 2 different videos for the song, and on February 2014 Davido released “AYE” another tune that shook up the African continent.

Davido started getting International recognition and was presented with the BET Awards for the Best International Act. He soon became a big deal and everybody wanted to get him on a track, which enabled him work with a lot of artists both home and abroad. Artists Such as Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Sarkodie Mi-casa, Lola rae Mafikizolo, R2bees, Diamond Platinum, Tinashe, Meek Mill, Young Thug, and Rae-Sraemmurd, and has also bagged some international awards such as the MOBO Award, the MAMA Award, and the KORA Award.

In 2018 he came up with a slang called the “30 BILLION GANG” a slang that was gotten from his 2017 hit song called “IF” a slang which implies that he and his crew are all very wealthy. He is presently signed with SONY Records an International record known to sign the best musicians. He has a couple of endorsement deals like Pepsi, MTN, and his latest one INFINIX, which he signed for a whopping #350 million.

 

He lives a flamboyant lifestyle and owns a fleet of cars and a Mansion both in Nigeria and Atlanta. He currently bought a #45 million Porsche car as a gift for his girlfriend Chioma. Davido”s net worth is estimated at #10 billion which makes him one of the richest musicians in Africa.
